Application Design Principal Engineer (Finance)
Job Description: Research, design, develop, test and supervise electrical control systems for industrial use. Review and prepare project specifications to ensure the control system meets the technical requirements of a project. Ensure customer's budgetary and scheduling requirements are met. Provide engineer control solutions on projects based on project specifications. Ensure the control system design meets the project specification. Oversee the hardware specification and development of the control system software. Oversee the development and programming of the control system logic and the functionality of the control system. Use logic drawings, control narratives and the basis of design documents to contribute to logic development. Interface with customers on technical and contractual details. Provide customer support on assigned projects and future project needs. Implement smaller system upgrades or modifications that have the potential to significantly impact the customer's process. Support engineering teams in the development of technical work scope and specifications for project applications. Support Project Managers in the development and execution of project. Eligible for remote work up to 2 days/wk. Position requires 15% travel to southeast Texas for project delivery.
Requirements: Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related field and 8 years of progressive, post-Bachelor's experience in process automation engineering, which must include at least some experience in the following skills: Integrating related technologies to design effective digital environments; Defining offers in terms of characteristics, features, advantages and general applications to answer customer needs; Defining functional and technical specifications using understanding of key market segments and needed customer application; Designing applications according to international standards, including IEC-61131, 61508, 61511, ISA84; Designing, implementing, enhancing and promoting approaches, including communities of practice, transfer of best practices, lessons learned and social collaborative tools; Providing technical support on key technologies, including Triconex TMR PLCs, Foxboro I/A Series DCS system platforms FCP-270, Wonderware Intouch HMI and Schneider PLCs; Interacting with system vendors and contractors for data collection, engineering and execution; Using Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) methodology and Mesh network to identify necessary engineering safeguards; Configuring HART and Foundation Fieldbus (FF) Devices; and Performing onsite installation and commissioning activities in complex application design projects.
