Monitors freight movement using various computer software applications. Coordinates and communicates transportation factors such as shipping options, transfers, regulations, and timelines to customers and vendors. Evaluates the efficiency and performance of the organization's logistical operations. Determines when to use the in-house truck fleet and/or freight companies. Builds and maintains relationships with outside carriers and freight companies. Plans shipments to transport materials and finished products legally and safely. Coordinates with freezer and warehouse inbound and outbound schedules of facility. Manages shipping costs to utilize the most efficient and cost-effective routes. Performs monthly audits using electronic logging devices (ELD) to comply with DOT rules and regulations. Communicates effectively with sales team members, trucking companies, vendors, customers and company drivers. Coordinates delivery and pick-up appointments. Maintains inbound and outbound weekly logs Assists in coordinating truck and trailer maintenance. Utilize proper procedures for stocking products (dates, temperatures, rotation, etc.). Ability to read and understand the Bill of Ladings. Delivers full or partial pallets utilizing forklifts into appropriate areas of the facility. Maintains accurate transactions by utilizing handheld scanners when moving items. Reports any accidents, incidents, or concerns to the Transportation and Shipping or Safety Manager immediately. Follows all company policies and procedures to produce safe, quality, and legal products. General transportation and warehouse duties as assigned.
