Operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Screens and Reviews MRI Patient Safety Screening Form. Verifies correct exam order and body part with patient. Utilizes RAPC Radiologist to ensure a patients implanted medical device(s) are MRI OK. Positions patient on examining table and follows a predetermined imaging protocol prescribed by a RAPC Radiologist. Demonstrates use of the microphone and stereo that provides communication between the patient and technologist during examination. Views exam images to ensure image quality is met and shows proficiency to make protocol adjustments if needed to meet patient needs and continued exam quality. Responsible for utilizing Slocum Medstrat PACS and RAPC Intellispace/Medinformatics for archiving MRI exam images. Interfaces with Slocum physicians and RAPC radiologists to optimize and improve the quality of images performed at Slocum and identify those studies that are best performed elsewhere on other imaging equipment. Monitors patients and staff entering MRI ACR Safety Zones 3 & 4.
