To setup tooling die packs and or kits to enable quick setup of next job on Formax Header thereby minimizing machine downtime.
NEW SETUP TOOL AUDIT ACTIVITIES
Review tool and job prints to determine requirements
Check dimensions and conditions of tools
NEW SETUP ASSEMBLY ACTIVITIES
Make initial loose setup using proper lubrication
Adjust setup to desired dimensions and tolerances
Assemble Formpak per prescribed procedures
Place Formpak prints and tools on cart for operator
OLD SETUP TEAR DOWN ACTIVITIES
Confirm dimensions and condition of old tooling
Remove clean and recheck tools
REQUISITION AND MAINTAIN TOOLING
Requisition and maintain adequate supply or tooling and preventive maintenance supplies to keep Formpak in good working condition.
Replacement Formpak parts (sleeves, guide tubes, etc.)
Replacement parts for cutter pak (springs pressure pins, etc.)
TOOLING MANUFACTURE
Utilization of lathe, honing machine, press, and surface grinder for manufacture and rework of basic heading tools.
Sharpens quills and cutters.
Grinds transfer fingers to suit
Manufactures plug gages for transfer set-up.
Assembles cutter pack on press
Hones up transfer bushings and knock-out tubes.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must maintain good communication skills between toolmakers and operators.
REQUIREMENTS
HS Diploma, GED or relevant experience.
Fluent in English (both strong verbal and written communication skills)
Good mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret prints
Ability to follow written instructions and to document
Ability to use precision measuring instruments
Ability to operate shop floor data collection system
Ability to prioritize work
Production tooling experience
DESIRABLES
Shop floor manufacturing experience
Quality control experience
Working understanding of Formax header operation
