SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the manager in the direction, interpretation and administration of the Company's payroll and reporting activities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Confer with Human Resources to ensure policies and benefits relating to payroll are in place to provide proper compensation and reporting. Responsible for coordinating and supervising activities of assigned staff. Manages the timely production of payrolls, taxes, and fringe benefit payments. Responsible for assigned cost and balance sheet reporting and reconciliation. Assists manager in system development and payroll processing. Works without direct supervision with some independent decision-making responsibility. Supervises daily activity of assigned staff to produce timely payroll and related processing. Requires overall knowledge of HR and PR policies and procedures. May assist with implementation of HRMS system, including enhancements and upgrades. Maintains detailed knowledge of union contracts, and other third-party payments. Provides high level of customer service to incoming calls involving payroll inquiries, researching and resolving payroll processing errors. Duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Associate's degree in business or related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3 - 5 years payroll experience; prior supervisory experience, PC and system knowledge highly desirable.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills. Ability to document existing and new processes as proofread and edit text in various formats. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to gather, interpret, report, and use data and other information concerning assigned activities. Knowledge of office practices, procedures and etiquette.
OTHER: HRMS system knowledge preferred.
JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
