Land Surveying - Instrument Operator (Engineering)

The Survey Instrument Operator reports to the Party Chief and Sr. Survey Manager and is responsible for the operation of survey equipment, including metal detectors, GNSS receivers, data collectors, total station and robotics, levels, and supporting equipment. This position has the overall responsibility to maintain field equipment. Support field survey team in the development of quality deliverables while working safely and efficiently and maintaining high utilization goals. Responsibilities: Coordinate daily task assignments and project prioritization with the Party Chief and Sr. Survey Manager. Uses established workflows and procedures for operating equipment. Collect topographic and boundary evidence data utilizing a field-to-finish format. Assist Party Chief with field procedures, survey notes, sketches, plan research, deed research, project goals and daily tasks Assist in the daily download of survey data. Responsible for charging equipment batteries and ensuring equipment readiness. Assists with field survey equipment updates, including software and hardware renewals. Perform physical tasks including carrying stake bags, cutting brush, setting stakes, must be able to occasionally work at heights in certain environmental conditions, wade through water, ride in a boat, that may include but not limited to heights, moderate to difficult terrains and aquatic environments/vessels. Willingness to travel out of town and other states. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of experience as an Instrument Operator Knowledge of math and earth sciences, geography experience, and computer skills Valid driver's license and clean driving record for operating company vehicles Ability to interact positively and professionally with other employees
