Job Summary
This position, Senior Business Development Manager, is the senior job within the Lubricants' sales job family. The Business Development Manager focuses on executing the Lubricants' commercial strategy of achieving financial and volume targets by securing new customer relationships within an assigned industry channel and/or market segment.
The focus of this role will be hunting new business and developing strategic opportunities that enhance value for the Lubricants organization. The position requires advanced skills in lead generation, prospect development, presentations, proposals, contract development, and closing of sales, along with a high level of business acumen.
Jobholders will utilize superior prospecting skills to leverage CITGO Lubricants' competitive advantages to secure new clients. Jobholders will prepare and present business cases with supporting economics to Lubricants Management. It is expected the jobholder will gather market data on pricing, competitive terms and communicate relevant market data to management and other sales personnel.
At this level, incumbents will have a greater level of experience and expertise and are expected to operate with more independence and autonomy than those in lower levels. Jobholders must possess superior communication and presentation skills including oral and written. At this level, objectives are more broadly defined, incumbents are typically awarded greater latitude for independent decision making and supervision tends to be after-the-fact. While not a supervisory position, heavily experienced incumbents at this level may serve as mentors to less experienced staff.
