Perform monthly and quarterly accounting functions for Texas Crude Operations under the Products Pipeline Business Segment. Primary responsibility will be the Kinder Morgan Crude & Condensate Pipeline
Perform and assist with monthly close procedures, including preparation of monthly journal entries relating to margin and inventory
Throughput billing and monitoring of Accounts Receivable collections
Analyze and explain variances - actuals to last forecast and week over week forecast
Inventory reconciliation review, analysis and booking of physical gain/loss on a monthly basis
Create and maintain various Excel spreadsheets for revenue and deficiency tracking as needed
Contract analysis for new/amended revenue contracts
Maintain and prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with corporate policies
SOX controls documentation
Quarterly flux analysis
Backlog calculation on quarters in accordance with ASC 606
Work closely with Business Development, Scheduling, and Forecasting groups to ensure completeness and accuracy of the Gross Margin accounting
Position Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
CPA preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS
At least 3+ years of previous accounting or finance related work experience
Advanced knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
Proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliations
Read, understand, and interpret customer contracts and amendments
Strong analytical skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Must be self-motivated and detail oriented
Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and often with strict deadlines, while maintaining a high quality of work product
Ability to work overtime during high volume periods, including but not limited to month/quarter/year end close
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others
Ability to work well in a team and/or with limited supervision
Good at prioritizing and planning multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
Must pass a Kinder Morgan drug screen and background check
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of Lawson financial software
